Hash Generator
Get the MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256 and SHA-512 hash of any text instantly. Everything is computed in your browser — nothing is uploaded.
How it works
- 1
Enter your text
Any text, password or string you want to hash.
- 2
Read the hashes
All four algorithms computed at once.
- 3
Copy the one you need
Use it to verify file integrity, compare values, or for development.

Frequently asked questions
No, hashing is one-way by design. You can only compare a new hash against a known one.
What a hash is for
A hash function takes any input and produces a fixed-length string that acts like a fingerprint: the same input always produces the same hash, and even a tiny change in the input produces a completely different one. This makes hashes useful for verifying that a file or message has not been altered.
MD5 and SHA-1 are fast but no longer considered secure against a determined attacker trying to find collisions; SHA-256 and SHA-512 are the current standards for security-sensitive uses like password storage (combined with salting) and digital signatures.
