How it works
- 1
Upload your PDF
Add the document you want to shrink. Scanned files and PDFs full of photos benefit the most.
- 2
Choose the compression level
Recommended gives the best balance. Extreme produces the smallest file, Light keeps images almost untouched.
- 3
Download the smaller PDF
We show the new size, and you download a PDF that opens in any reader.

Frequently asked questions
Scanned and photo-heavy PDFs often shrink by 50% to 90%. Documents that contain mostly text are already small and change less.
What actually makes a PDF heavy
In most large PDFs the weight does not come from text at all. It comes from embedded images: scanned pages, photos exported at print resolution, screenshots pasted into reports. A single page scanned at 600 DPI can weigh several megabytes on its own.
Our compressor goes through every image in the document, downsamples those stored at a higher resolution than any screen or office printer needs, and re-encodes them efficiently. Text, fonts, links and vector drawings are left exactly as they are, so the document stays crisp and searchable.
PDFs made only of text are usually already compact, so they shrink less. Files are processed on isolated servers and permanently deleted after 2 hours.
