What the CNPJ registry tells you about a company
The CNPJ is the national registration number of every Brazilian company, issued by the Federal Revenue Service. Its registration data is public by law, which lets anyone confirm that a supplier, client or marketplace seller actually exists and is legally active.
The registration status is the most important field. “Ativa” means the company is regular; “Baixada”, “Inapta” or “Suspensa” are warning signs before closing a deal. The main activity code (CNAE) shows what the company is registered to do, and the opening date helps spot businesses created days before a suspicious offer.
Partner and shareholder names are deliberately not shown, since they concern private individuals. Data comes from public registry mirrors and may lag a few days behind the official database.
